Originally from Osaka and now based in Tokyo, NOY is an illustrator who brings cultural rituals and daily life into his work with a touch of mystery and charm. He grew up drawing original monsters inspired by card games like Yu-Gi-Oh!, and during the pandemic, he returned to illustration—posting his work online and gaining momentum through exhibitions and fan support. His recent series draws on ancient seafaring cultures, exploring how people once navigated without maps. Through bold characters and detailed scenes, NOY captures the emotion of encountering unfamiliar traditions—feelings of wonder, fear, and curiosity.
